Social Media Today reports that in a question about battling bots, Musk said, โThe single most important reason that weโre moving to having a small monthly payment for use of the X system is that itโs the only way I can think of to combat vast armies of bots. Because a bot costs a fraction of a penny, or a tenth of a penny, but if somebody even has to pay a few dollars or something, some minor amount, the effective cost of bots is very high, and then you also have to get a new payment method every time you have a new bot.โ
During the interview, Musk has maintained X will offer various tiers of subscription, including a cheaper alternative for users to continue accessing the platform. While bigger brands and creators dependent on the platform might pay for the subscription, it can be a disaster considering their followers and fans might not pay for accessing X.
